Grünwalder Bridge in Germany
The Grünwalder Isar Bridge connects the towns of Pullach and Grünwald. Its western abutment is located on a landslide-prone slope. During the renovation of the abutments in winter 2018/2019, HAPPY MONITORING sensors complemented the geotechnical monitoring measurements by providing continuous, real-time structural monitoring.
At the same time, the sensor data were used as a redundant system alongside terrestrial surveys conducted by the Bavarian State Office for the Environment (LfU), allowing the data to be compared. Four rovers were installed on the bridge, and the base station was set up at Grünwald Castle.
In conclusion, the sensors delivered continuous and reliable data even in heavy fog or snow, whereas conventional measurement methods produced poor, inaccurate, or no data at all.
